About
Hi, I'm Grace!
I'm a digital humanist and archives practitioner. After graduating from Bates College with honors in Interdisciplinary Studies, I pursued a Master's in Digital Humanities at Lancaster University in the UK. My research focuses on how cultural organizations -- particularly archives -- can create more accessible digital experiences for their users, with a particular emphasis on the power of user-created metadata and crowdsourcing. Beyond research, I've also held a variety of positions across the cultural heritage field, from living history interpretation at Old Sturbridge Village to object photography at Maine Maritime and rare books cataloging in the Lancaster University Library Special Collections.
Right now, I'm an Archives Fellow at the Preservation Society of Newport County in Newport, Rhode Island, where I'm processing the archival collections related to the mansion "Chepstow" and its former occupants. Most days, you can find me in Chepstow opening drawers, crawling into closets, and occasionally talking to ghosts. But when I'm not doing detective work, I'm usually doing something data or metadata related -- and hopefully getting time to write about it for this blog!
